Week One of Thanksgiving

The month of November is a great time to reflect on gratitude. It's a practice that God calls us to as a daily reminder of his provision, love, and mercy. I find that when I am grateful, my children are grateful. Not always for peas...but that's okay.

I am not the best at scheduling things into my day. I am best known by last minute dinners and midnight making sessions to get things done. So, I have great intentions to do devotionals with my kids, but we aren't always the best at keeping to it each day. So, I decided to create something that was a reminder. Something that created space.

Along with scripture cards to display wherever it pleases you, there are three activities to go along with each weekly scripture. These three things are what I think are important to create space for, which are story, beauty and journey.

Story - a look at the story God has given us. It's something to read.

Beauty - God creates beautiful things and allows us to create beautiful things. It's something to                  create.

Journey - our walk with God is important. It's a practical way to connect with God's truths.

Each of these elements can be used on different days or used on the same day. It's about making space for Jesus. You will note that sometimes the journey element or the beauty element of the week may have daily opportunities.

I made a cardboard stand for the scripture card, make one for yourself too, or use a picture frame, or clipboard...whatever works for you.

November focuses on thanksgiving of course. It's a natural thing to think about and meditate with during this season, and for many of us, it is quite important as winter settles around us.

May you find yourself full of gratitude this season with your loved ones.
